Father of the Year Awards

Celebrating Exceptional Fathers, Leaders & Role Models Since 1942
For more than eight decades, the Father of the Year Awards have celebrated extraordinary fathers whose leadership, character, and commitment make a lasting difference in their families, communities, and beyond.
Presented by the National Father’s Day Committee, an entity of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, Inc., this distinguished annual tradition has honored more than 540 exemplary fathers since the awards were established in 1942.
Honoring Fathers Who Lead by Example
Great fathers shape more than their own families—they help strengthen communities and inspire future generations.
Each year, the Father of the Year Awards recognize remarkable men who demonstrate the values of leadership, dedication, integrity, and service. Through their achievements at home, in their professions, and within their communities, our honorees represent the powerful and positive impact of fatherhood.
The awards bring together families, business and community leaders, supporters, and friends to celebrate fathers who lead by example and leave a meaningful legacy for those around them.
A Proud Tradition of Honoring Outstanding Fathers
The Father of the Year Awards have a remarkable history dating back to 1942, when U.S. General Douglas MacArthur became the first recipient. In the years that followed, distinguished honorees included Presidents Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, helping establish the awards as a nationally recognized celebration of fatherhood and leadership.
Today, that tradition continues as the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council recognizes fathers from diverse backgrounds, professions, and communities who share something important in common: an extraordinary commitment to their families and the people they inspire.
Celebrating Fatherhood. Supporting Families.
The Father of the Year Awards are about more than recognition. They also help advance the broader mission of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council to strengthen and support families.
Through its annual awards events and charitable partnerships, the Council has contributed more than $37 million to family-related charities and national organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of parents and children.
Every honoree, supporter, sponsor, and guest becomes part of a tradition dedicated to celebrating outstanding parents while helping create stronger futures for families.
